2024 Black History Month Scholarship Winners Announced

In recognition of Black History Month, Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc., and FMC Community Foundation is pleased to present scholarships to 11 local African American high school students in our service area who have expressed their desire to attend a post-secondary institution and major in a health-related field of study.
Congratulations to these students who will receive a $1000 scholarship in recognition of Black History Month:
亚历山德里亚迪克森, a senior at Barren County High School, is also a member of the Healthcare Occupational Students of America (HOSA) Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), β俱乐部, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has received several awards including the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence, First Place Regional HOSA Winner in Cultural Diversity & Disparities in Healthcare, Public Service Announcement, and Sports Medicine. Alexandria is enrolled in Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences as a White Coat Recipient and is an Allied Health Pathway Completer. She has participated in volleyball and is a regional qualifier in track and field. Alexandria plans to attend the University of Kentucky to become a Pharmacist.
Kassidy白 is a senior at Barren County High School and plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University to study nursing. She has participated in varsity soccer as the captain, 网球, track, volleyball and serves as a pep club officer. Kassidy volunteers for the Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA). In her spare time, she enjoys athletics, pageantry, and was named Miss Barren County Fair 2023.
Alishia战斗, a senior at Pulaski County High School, is a member of the National Honor Society and Healthcare Occupational Students of America (HOSA) Club. She has participated in various school affiliated activities including choir, the Gear Up 领导 Team, 和辅导. Alishia enjoys singing and editing photos. She plans to attend Somerset Community & Technical College with the goal of becoming an ultrasound technician.
Aleiah巴洛 is a senior at Barren County High School. Throughout high school, she has participated in cheerleading, Healthcare Occupational Students of America (HOSA) Club, Pep俱乐部, Foreign Language Club, and Best Buddies - a student-run friendship club, which created buddy pairs between students with and without disabilities. She also volunteers with the local nursing homes and the Angel Tree Program. Aleiah plans to attend Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College to pursue a career as a nurse midwife.
安德烈斯·詹金斯, senior at North Hardin High School, is a member of the Academic Team, Y俱乐部, Youth Service Center Council, 和贝塔俱乐部. He has received several awards including the Better Together Student Award, President’s List, Gifted & 有才华的, Joint Science and Technology Institute STEM research experience in Maryland, National Society of High School Honors, Academic All State A & B Honor Roll, and being recognized as the Tuesday’s Teen in The 新闻-Enterprise. Andres participates in community activities such as Wreaths Across American, Kentucky Colonels Day of Service, and Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central (KVCC) placing flags and cleaning head stones. He enjoys volunteering in the community, 打保龄球, 爵士音乐, 科学, and helping those less fortunate. Andres plans to attend the University of Kentucky to pursue a pharmacy degree.
Clara Grace MacFarlane is a senior at Marion County High School. She has completed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam, is a member of the National Honor Society, and participates in Health Occupations Student of America (HOSA) Club. Clara plans to attend Bluegrass Community and Technical School to pursue a career in nursing.
DeShaila纽比 is a senior at Marion County High School and plans to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to become a radiology technician. She has competed in volleyball and participates in β俱乐部, Young Historians Society, and Knight Way 媒体, a student-led multimedia production class. DeShaila enjoys reading dystopian literature, cooking, volleyball, and shopping.
Sequoria Copass is a senior at Caverna High School and has been recognized with the Governor’s Scholar Service Award as part of the Key Club. Sequoria plans to attend the University of Louisville to focus on the study of nursing.
Imyni意味着 is a senior at Marion County High School and plans to become a dentist. She has participated in Feeding America. She serves as the Vice President of the National Honors Society 和贝塔俱乐部. Imyni is a Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program participant and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors Award, College Board National African American Recognition for Outstanding Achievement, 美联社朗 & US History Outstanding Achiever 奖, Certificate of Excellence in Biology, and is a member of the 2023 District Volleyball All-Academic Team. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Knight Way 媒体, 学生会, Young Historians Society, and is a Marion Public Schools Student Ambassador. Imyni enjoys crocheting, playing the ukulele, and volunteering in her community.
约拿Skaggs, senior at Russell County High School, is a member of the Health Occupations Student of America (HOSA) Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and participates in track, 足球, 越野比赛. Jonah enjoys running, going to the gym, and 爵士音乐. He plans to attend Western Kentucky University to pursue a career in physical therapy.
KeAvia亚当斯 is a senior at Marion County High School. Throughout high school, she participated in basketball, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club, National Honor Society, 学生会, and Family Career and Community Leaders of America. She enjoys spending time with friends, trying new foods, and shopping. KeAvia plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study Human Health Sciences.
The FMC Community Foundation is a nonprofit supporting organization established with the mission to meet the physical and mental health needs of individuals and communities within CFMC’s service area through outreach, 订婚, and monetary assistance. The Foundation focuses on several items including providing assistance and opportunities for students interested in pursuing a healthcare career; enabling students to make healthy decisions through increased education and resources; and increasing access to everyday necessities. The FMC Community Foundation is a valued partner organization of CFMC and strives to improve and support the overall health status and health opportunities for our patients and communities.
